International Children’s Center-ICC publishes Annual Report of 2020-2021
The International Children's Center-ICC published its report for the years 2020-2021 with the following message from the President of the Association, Prof. Dr. Tomris Türmen. You can download the report (Turkish) from here.
Despite the difficult conditions, ICC continued its work intensively in 2020-2021. Due to the pandemic, we moved from the habit of working face-to-face to the habit of interacting, sharing, discussing and making decisions together over the internet in a short time, and our work was not interrupted.
We started 2021 with a great loss. We lost our esteemed and beloved teacher Professor Münevver Bertan on January 6, 2021. We will always remember Prof. Dr. Münevver Bertan, who has been leading all our employees since its inception, with love and respect.
When we look at the last two years, we see three important breakthroughs. The first major program is the "Child Friendly Tourism" initiative, a project to promote children's rights to the private sector. In a short time, the tourism sector has made arrangements in the sector to internalise children's rights, and for all personnel to receive training on child health and children's rights. This is an important and sustainable example of the cooperation between a non-governmental organisation and the private sector on children's rights.
The second new breakthrough is that our Center is a founding member of the Early Childhood Development Non-Governmental Organisations Platform. Our Center is pleased to be working with a large stakeholder group to turn early childhood growth into a solid and positive direction.
The third and most comprehensive study is the program supported by the EU, which will continue for 3 years, and will encourage children's participation and children's rights to combat violence in the digital world. We will focus on this big and important program as a whole team and give priority to our work.
In the coming year, it will continue its human rights-based work by providing evidence-based advocacy, research, training, networking, and strengthening other NGO capacities.
