“Continuous Paediatrics Training for Family Health Physicians and Health Workers” continues at full speed

Adequate nutrition during infancy and early childhood is fundamental to the development of each child’s full human potential. It is well recognized that the period from birth to two years of age is a “critical window” for the promotion of optimal growth, health and behavioural development.

Therefore, ICC in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the universities and the private sector launched “the Continuous Pediatrics Training for Family Health Physicians and Family Health Workers” programme on 12 May 2012. Thirteen one-day seminars were realized throughout Turkey in 2012 and 2013. Total of 1.906 health professionals comprised of family physician and family health staff were reached directly and these seminars provided refreshment opportunity of their knowledge.

The seminars consisting of Breast Feeding by Prof Dr Raşit Vural Yağcı from Ege University Faculty of Medicine, Infant Nutrition and Common Problems by Prof Dr Saadet Arsan from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine,  Clinical Management of Sick Children with Fever by Prof Dr Ateş Kara from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Vaccines and Common Problems by Assoc Prof Sevtap Güney from Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine and  Child Abuse and Neglect by Prof Dr Betül Ulukol from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, These seminars are on since 2012, also provided discussion opportunities at the end of each subject by giving chance to participants to ask their questions.

794 primary health care proffessionals were reached by seminars realized in Adana, Mardin and Batman in the first half of 2014.
