A Special Closing Concert of 2013-2014 from Special Children

In the scope of “Providing Music Therapy to Children with Disabilities Project” coordinated by the International Children's Center (ICC) and supported by the Rotary Club's Cankaya branch and the Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts in cooperation with the Disabled Education and Solidarity Foundation (OZEV); the Music Class performed a concert comprised of Orff-Schulwerk School for closing activities of 2013-2014 on May 18, 2014.

The project aims to develop the abilities, to help the children to gain self-confidence to stiffen cling to life and positive influence on social skills by giving music instruction to children. In the framework of a part-time special early music education program prepared by the Department of Music of the Bilkent Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, a group of 15 students has been receiving music training by using orf instruments since 2012. The end of year concert of this activity which was coordinated by Ms. Elif Acar, Academician of Faculty of Music and Performing Arts and realized with great efforts of Ms. Nuran Barut, early music education instructor, was successfully performed.   

The children provided a memorable afternoon to the audiences composed of the families of children and representatives of Rotary Club which has supported this activity financially for the last two years, Bilkent University and ICC staff, the students of Bilkent University and the public.
