Workshop on Mid-Level Management Training in Immunization for National Training Coordinators

The World Health Organization and the International Children’s Center have jointly organized the 6th Workshop on Mid-Level Management Training in Immunization for National Training Coordinators with the participation of 34 national immunization programme specialists, mid-level immunization managers as well as representatives of ministry of health from Albania, Armania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Crotia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Latvia,  Republic of Moldova, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan on 8-13 October 2012 in Ankara/Turkey.  

The objective of the 6 days training was to enable immunization managers at all levels to acquire skills in planning, management, monitoring and evaluation with special emphasis on

    • management of logistics, the cold chain, vaccines and safe-injection equipment
    • communication and mobilization in support of immunization
    • waste management and monitoring to ensure vaccine safety
    • vaccine preventable diseases surveillance
    • monitoring, supportive supervision and evaluation of immunization services
    • measurement of the performance of all components of the immunization system
    • developing district immunization micro-plans.

 

The training was conducted in English, with simultaneous translations in Russian language. A total of 34 participants from 25 countries attended the training.
