News from WHO/Europe Vaccine-preventable diseases and Immunization - December 2018


The vaccine-preventable diseases and immunization programme (VPI) at the WHO Regional Office for Europe would like to extend season's greetings and inform you of the following news and resources.


ANNOUNCEMENTS


The European Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (ETAGE) met on 12-13 November 2018 in Copenhagen, Denmark. A full report in English and Russian is pending.
 


Measles cases in the European Region so far in 2018 have exceeded 50 000, doubling the already high number recorded for all of 2017. The latest data are available in WHO EpiData and an analysis of outbreaks in France, Serbia and Ukraine is provided in a new WHO EpiBrief
 


At its 7th meeting in June 2018, the Regional Verification Commission for Measles and Rubella Elimination concluded that 43 of 53 Member States had interrupted endemic measles transmission and 42 of 53 interrupted endemic rubella transmission as of December 2017. The RVC meeting report is now available in English and Russian.
